We are currently seeking skilled Diesel Mechanics/Technicians to join our team.
Position Summary
As a Diesel Mechanic/Technician, you will perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, which includes working on chassis components, refuse vehicle bodies and control systems, hydraulic systems, electrical and air brake systems, HVAC components, suspension, drive trains, tires, and steering systems. This role may also involve welding and fabrication tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues and conduct repairs and maintenance to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Review and address repairs identified in DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) and repair orders.
- Communicate with managers and drivers on vehicle issues and advise on preventive techniques to reduce future repairs.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Follow all safety policies and OSHA standards, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Use vehicle computer electronics systems to diagnose issues and assign repairs.
- Conduct safety checks on all vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize Factory Service Manuals for guidance in repair work.
- Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
- Perform on-site and on-road repairs as needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Suspension, Brake, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Engine Inspections, including diagnosis and repair.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and interpreting Service Manuals for repairs.
- Ability to complete work within Suggested Repair Times (SRTs) and accurately estimate time and materials required for repairs.
- CDL Class B preferred (obtainable within 12 months).
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to chemicals and residential waste.
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities, including walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, and lifting.
- Stamina for a steady work pace, along with the ability to get in and out of commercial vehicles frequently.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 75 pounds and performing repetitive motions.
- Tolerance for working in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
